Commanders Log: Year, 2034… It has been three years since the world became torn by two omnipotent factions: The United Nations and the Reformed Soviet Union. In the year 2031, the Great War was started by the Russian president, Clovis Malkomier. The Russians sought nothing more than to remove the United Nations from the world. More than twenty years ago, the United Nations backed a rebellion in the nation of Kosovo. Kosovo was recognized as an independent nation and Russia was not happy. An emergency United Nations council revealed that Russian and United Nation ties were straining even further. In the year 2013, Russia resigned from the Grand Council of the United Nations ending all alliances with UN countries… for 18 years, Russia created an underground alliance that would soon be known as the Reformed Soviet Union. Among the RSU were a few infamous black market trade groups who helped Russia to build a large amount of nuclear warheads. In 2031, the final countdown was made… the warheads were fired all over the world. However, only 31 missiles succeeded in detonating. The United Nations, knowing it would be a declaration of war, fired their new and powerful weapon, the Ion Cannon. With the power of five nuclear warheads the Ion Cannon obliterated the missile launch pad in less than 15 seconds. The nuclear threat was over 24 minutes after it began but the Earth would never be the same. The radioactivity of the 25 nuclear missiles that had been destroyed on the launch pad spread like wildfire across the Mongolian, Russian border. The other 31 missiles spread radiation across western South American, North-Eastern Canada, Southern Africa, and Central Asia. One billion innocent people were slaughtered and the world was put into biological disaster. The landmasses of the world were classified into three Code Zones based upon their damage in the aftermath of the war. Code: Green zones, Code: Yellow Zones, and Code: Red zones. Code: Green zones cover about 33% of the Earth and were shielded by United Nation technology. Code: Green Zones hold United Nation territories and a few Reformed Soviet Union ones. Code: Yellow Zones cover 45% of the Earth. Humans can only remain in these areas for a matter of only a few hours. Code: Red Zones can support no life and cover 22% of the Earth’s surface. These lands are lost and it will be billions of years before humans can even step foot onto this land again… if we ever will be able to at all… after three years, the drums of war thunder once again…
June 27th, 2034… United Nation’s border to the Canadian Code: Yellow Zone…
“Control, this is Sentinel Keep 36, region 4… we are on standby for the hourly report. Over.” “36, standing by, proceed with report, lieutenant. Over.” “All keep systems normal. Our field runner team is in debriefing now. Reports of the territory conclude that the area remains in critical Code: Yellow Zone condition. The radioactivity of the area has neither better nor worsened. Over.” “Affirmative 36, is there anything else to report? Any attempts at an air raid from the RSU?” “No Sir, things have been quite around here… radar checks out clear. Wait; hold on, what is this? The radar is iridescent sir! Looks like I have some interference. Control?” The alarm flipped on and it gave chills to the Lieutenant’s spine. Beads of sweat started appearing on his forehead. “Control?” He asked again. The reply from Control was distorted. “Ev…uat…t a…l …erso… ten…nt!” The Lieutenant heard the diamond-forged boots of the defensive squad pounding down the hallway. He quickly jumped up and grabbed his Xylem- LG and ran out the door to meet the squad… * * * “I want focused fire on them! Now!” “Incoming! AHHHH!” An explosion of a neutron grenade rocked the courtyard the defensive tower. “Control! Come in control! We are under heavy fire! This is Sentinel Keep 34, region 4!” Shouted Sergeant Conrad into his Helm Vent. “We have your position Conrad, we are sending in Dragoons now. ETA, 30 seconds.” “We’ve lost Angelo!” “Ahh, these things are so fast! What the heck are they!?”
Sergeant Conrad looked around at the carnage at their small outpost. Their assailants were hardly human. They were incredibly fast, strong, and they seemed to dodge everything that came at them… as if they knew it was coming. “Whoa!” he shouted as a Hydrogen Bolt flew past his head. He ran across a clearing and slid behind an upturned rock. Tink ,pink ,tink, pink! He fired off another round of shots from his Xylem-LG. “Dragoons incoming over-head! Everyone get down, this is gonna be messy! The Dragoons fired shells of Ion bolts into the fray and clouds of Earth flew into the air making the scene a blind fight. Tink, pink, tink, pink! Another round of bullets from a Xylem flew through the dust. “Medic, we need a medic over here!” “Bradley is down, I repeat, Bradley is down!”
As the dust cleared Conrad could see the enemies fleeing back into the Canadian Code: Yellow Zone. “Condrad... Bradley, Angelo, and Christie are dead…” “Great.” Said Conrad “Are any of those THINGS dead?” “No, sir. There are no corpses around here resembling anything that we just saw…” “Okay, well, we must get this disk back to control. It has visorshots, videos, and a description of what were just up against. They will want to see this.” * * * “Welcome back, general…” “Thank you, Commander Spode. UN Sentinel Outpost 36 lies in ruin, however, my precinct and I ran into, complications, when we assaulted UN Sentinel Outpost 34. Sergeant Conrad put up quite a fight and his engineers were able to counter our radar spike. Their communications came back online and they requested air support.” “Were any of your men caught?” “No, sir, all of my men are accounted for.” “Did Conrad or any of his companions see you?” “I believe Conrad may have taken a few visorshots but the minute their air support arrived and fired their Ion Bolts the dirt on the ground was kicked up and the entire field of battle was blinded. We used that opportunity to escape. We may be powerful and tougher than the conventional human but we are still mortal, we can still be killed.” Spode chuckled wickedly, “I know that! After all, I created you! I will tell you, general, where our kind came from. I was created by a UN scientist 17 years before the Great War began. While I was still a unicellular organism the scientist changed my genes. He added in genes that a soldier would have. No battlefield sympathy for killing, immense strength, substantial cleverness, and swift agility. Then, he amplified them. I was to be the perfect soldier and I was to defeat Russia who was becoming a large threat to the United Nations. When I turned seventeen, however, the Great War began. I was taken away in an adamantium van. A missile struck 5.36 miles from where we were driving and everyone in the van was killed, except for me. I felt more powerful than I ever had. The radiation was fueling my energy. As it would kill a normal human, it kept me going because of my amplified nervous system. I went north and built this fortress and started to work on my own army, changing the genes of all of them… you. Dispite the fact that I am able to live in a climate as harsh as this, I hate it! I am condemned to stay here as are you general. If we return we will only be used as tools, someone created me for a purpose to match their desires not just to let me live. I am all too human to have these emotions. However, I changed the genes of all of you to treat you as humans, my equals…not some organic device to destroy an enemy. We will rule together after we either control or eliminate the irresponsible and greedy humans. We are the designer race!” “You are right, Commander Spode! Those humans are too irresponsible. They could have killed their own soldiers with their air support firing randomly like they did. If they had not have had cover, they would have died before we did…” “You did use the RSU weapons that I gave you, correct, general?” “Of course, commander!” “Perfect, we have set the illusion… it WAS the RSU that attacked the UN!” * * * “So sergeant Conrad, you said that your aggressor walked straight out of a Code: Yellow Zone?” “That is correct control, err, High Officer Scottie… I found this to be nigh impossible for a human can only survive in a Code: Yellow Zone for only a few hours. We didn’t see any signs of a RSU warship on a radar either.” “Nor did I”, Private Carlos, one of Conrad’s squad members added in. “As it turns out, we have had three other reports of this exact same happening. 36,32,and 39 have all fallen to these same intruders although, there were no survivors of those attacks.Flickering radar, jammed radio control, the same old story. Hmm… this is very intriguing. I will send these files to the Grand Council of the United Nations in England and have our best examine it. We will see if we can discover who this new foe is. Meanwhile, I want you back at 34 Conrad… As an extra precaution I will send two more squads with you and two GF-War Chief Tanks. Should they strike again we will be prepared. Good luck Conrad, and Godspeed! Howrah!” The High officer saluted and then left the room. “Control, … is 34… e…ud…tta…el….HELP! “Let’s go Carlos… we have to get back to 34.” * * *
